In 2021, every tenth new passenger car in Europe was already fully electric. Percentage-wise, the share of electric vehicles among new buses was higher than for new passenger cars. The total market for buses is only a fraction of the passenger car market size though. The van and especially the truck markets lag behind cars and buses when it comes to electrification. On a country-by-country basis, Norway stands out with the highest electric market share for passenger cars, Finland for buses.
